(WWLP) WESTFIELD, – Senator John Velis hosted a free pumpkin giveaway on Saturday at the Stanley Park Children’s Pavilion, bringing local families together to celebrate the autumn season.
The event offered attendees free small sugar pumpkins along with seasonal cider, donuts, and fall-themed crafts. Residents were able to stop by throughout the afternoon to participate in activities and connect with community members.
The pumpkins distributed at the event were sourced locally from Fletcher Farm in Southampton. Refreshments, including cider and donuts, were provided by Bashista Orchards.
Sen. Velis, who represents the area in the state Senate, organized the event to give families a free seasonal activity while connecting with neighbors.
“Fall is one of my favorite times of year and it was great to bring families together for a fun afternoon at Stanley Park,” Velis said. “I’m happy we were able to offer this free event to our community and I want to thank everyone who stopped by to celebrate the season with us. I look forward to making this a yearly tradition and bringing this event to communities across the district, giving families more opportunities to come together and celebrate the season.”
Sen. Velis plans to make the giveaway an annual event and bring similar community opportunities to other towns throughout the Hampden and Hampshire District.
