(WWLP- Kiara Smith)Drones are being spotted across the U.S. and it has become a concern for many Americans.
These drones have been spotted in several places including New Jersey, New York, Connecticut Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. The Associated Press says elected officials are calling for action to identify and stop the mysterious flights of these drones.
This has raised concerns as many residents have seen these drones while driving or walking outside. These drones have been seen flying around military facilities.
At the moment, it is unknown who is responsible for the drones but the AP says national security officials have said these mysterious drones don’t appear to be a sign of foreign interference or a public safety threat.
State Senator John Velis says there needs to be rules and regulations on these drone operations which is why he has been trying to file a bill to do just that, “I am going to be refiling that bill, expanding on it even more, because since the last filing, there has been an abundance of new information but this is not something we can run from we need to deal with this head-on.”
Velis says who can fly these drones, how high they go, and where they are flown should be considered in these regulations. Through all of this, U.S. Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says they are working in close coordination with state and local authorities to get more answers about these drone sightings.
